In this plan, we first studied the Mayan number system. They discussed and animated how numbers came to be. We watched a video about numbers. I read the story 'The Greatest of Numbers' to my students and talked about it. What if it wasn't zero? Is zero nothing? What would a world without numbers be like? Where do the numbers come from?
